by Ramani Kangaraarachchi The annual general meeting of the Sri Lanka Army Ex-Service Women's Corps Association was a memorable day for its members who had an opportunity to get together and reminisce their past as women soldiers. The Association was formed seven years ago with only five members. It now has over 100 members. A number of welfare projects such as medical facilities, scholarships for deserving children, self-employment courses have been launched by the Association over the past few years. The founder Army Commander Lt General Dennis Perera was the chief guest. He was accompanied by his wife Ranjani Perera. Air Vice Marshal and Mrs Harry Gunatilake, Major General and Mrs Tilak Paranagama, President Ex-Servicemen's Association were the guests of honour. All Commanding Officers of the Women's Corps units were also present. |
