Madhu Feast on July 2

The feast of the Madhu Church will be held on July 2. Government has provided necessary assistance to get the shrine ready for pilgrims, attending the two great feasts on July 2 and August 15.

Interior and Christian Affairs Minister John A.E. Amaratunga who visited the shrine last week made a donation of Rs. five lakhs.

The Church officials expect over 150,000 devotees at the July feast, which will be the first to be celebrated in peaceful environment after signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Sri Lanka Government and Liberation of Tigers of Tamil Eelam. The feast could not be held during the past two decades due to war situation in the North.

All pilgrims are advised to have their identity cards in possession and route permits and other necessary documents to make the journey easy.
