Piyadasa Silva attends world drowning congress Chief Inspector of Police Piyadasa Silva represented Sri Lanka at the World Drowning, Treatment; Prevention and Rescue Congress in Amsterdam which was held from June 26 to 28. He is the Hony. General Secretary of the Life Saving Association of Sri Lanka. Piyadasa Silva is a familiar figure on the beach, having being associated with the Life-Saving Association of Sri Lanka for over 40 years. He has been responsible personally for around 100 rescues and the students that he has trained have been very active and they have been responsible for around 1,500 to 2000 lives saved. The Life-Saving Movement has been very active, providing safety patrols to Wattala, Preethipura, Unawatuna, Galle and Mount Lavinia on public holidays and on weekends. |
