Sandun makes last journey

Sandun Prematthilaka, attached to the `Kreeda' newspaper, made his last journey yesterday.

Sandun, as he was affectionately known was a pillar to the local sports world. Before taking to sports journalism he distinguished himself in the field of cricket having captained Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya. He was also associated with the game at Nomads Cricket Club.

The son of the late, Meemana Premathilaka, a one time doyen of Sinhala poetry who was an institution to Sinhala journalism, Sandun too followed in his father's footsteps as his two elder brothers Sunil and Sarath. He distinguished in giving new meaning to sports journalism.

His cremation took place yesterday amidst a distinguished gathering at the Godigamuwa Cemetery, Maharagama.
