Hambantota early warning

If the rains fail in the next fortnight, Hambantota District will once more become a drought disaster area unless prompt action is taken, Social Service officials warn. The Minister himself is calling for early action to avoid the kind of humanitarian disaster that occurred last year.

Private bus fares down by 2.5 per cent from weekend

The National Transport Commission confirmed that private bus fares will come down from the end of next week by at least 2.5 per cent. After the Ministry of Transport approves it, passengers will receive a benefit of fifty cents to Rs. 5.00, the NTC revealed.
