Break these laws at your peril

Women and you teens too. Here's something to ponders. As you work yourself into shape; trim, primp and pomade your way into looking good, give a thought to fraud, battery, vandalism, perjury and manslaughter..... Of course they won't get you a prison term, but beware, they may destroy your health and your natural good looks.

Bodily Harm

Cutting your cuticles back too far when you give yourself a DIY (do it yourself) manicure, or picking around the edges until they bleed - This looks horrible and can cause infections. To avoid dry skin, use a hand cream every day. Rub almond oil into your cuticles twice a week and rather than cutting them, gently push them back with a range-stick. Try painting your nails in a dark colour, this will distract your eyes from the surrounding skin and reduce the temptation to pick.

Battery

Using an electric razor on your leg hair instead of letting it grow long enough to wax - By breaking the hairs off with a blade, you blunt the ends and encourage prickly re-growth. Before long you will be shaving every day. Instead try bleaching the hairs in between waxes. If you are going out in a short skirt, use a cream depilatory that will dissolve hairs at the roots.

Breaking and Entering

Squeezing spots, however tempting, will only cause more eruptions - It aggravates inflamed tissue and spreads the infection to healthy pores. You also risk scarring. Instead, try to let the spots heal naturally. Drinking lots of water and eating green vegetables will help flush out toxins and cleanse they system. Wash your face using a medicated soap and avoid clogging pores by wearing too much make-up. Keep your make-up brushes clean to avoid re-infection. Wash them once a week in warm soapy water.

Criminal Damage

Ruining your hair with crimping tongs just because the catwalk has decreed it as fashionable is not a very good idea.

Daylight Robbery

Buying your entire skin care range from a French or British or any foreign couture house because you think if it's more expensive, it must be better - Supermarkets now sell excellent skin-care products that include all thelatest high-tech ingredients at a fraction of the price.

Embezzlement

Borrowing somebody else's make-up brushes - This is a fast way to transfer infections and spread spots. And it goes without saying that you should never share mascara (could cause sties) or lipstick (cold sores).

Fraud

Refusing to be seen without your make-up - If you are so dependent on your cosmetics that you won't leave home without them, you are a sad case. Slowly cut down the amount you wear. People will accept you for who you really are.

Grievous Bodily Harm

Over-training at the gym - Muscles that bulge are unattractive. And, aesthetics aside, if you do eventually let the training slip, the muscles you have built waste and the calories you are not burning off convert to fat more rapidly. Over-training can also make you ill. If you train at high intensity for too long, or too often, the body is unable to recover between training seasons and you could end up on a downward spiral. The immune system is easily affected. A warning sign to watch for is frequently catching colds. Spend more time concentrating on aerobic exercises, which will increase your heart rate and burn off fat cells.

Manslaughter

Wearing a sledgehammer fragrance so strong that it will knock out your date - The power scents are a throwback to the Eighties anyway. The new millennium scents are lighter, sportier and citrusy.

Speeding

If you've got only two minutes to get ready, trying to apply full make-up is impossible - You will end up looking a mess. Instead, cut your make-up down to a minimum. A swish of mascara, a dab of cover-up and a full coat of lipstick will give you a well-applied look.

Vandalism

Wearing so much make-up that you look like a clown - Don't apply your blusher I a strip or you'll look like an American Indian Chief. Lots of blue eye shadow is one hangover from the '70s that has not been revived. And lip liner should match your lipstick. Experiment with natural tones, and paint your eyes or your lips not both.
