Distinct talent and style

Sanjeewa Kumara has a distinct talent and unique style. He is a local artist with a global outlook. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts (Painting) from the Institute of Aesthetic Studies, Sri Lanka as well as a Diploma in Painting from the AKI Academy at present he is doing his Masters in Fine Arts at the Dutch Art Institute, Enschede, Netherlands.

Sanjeewa's creations which are colourful, humorous and often whimsical and very popular in Sri Lanka. It has taken on a new dimension after the exposure he received by living in Europe. Having exhibitions in different parts of Europe has given him a global outlook, enabling him to experiment with various styles while retaining his identity.

Sanjeewa's universal creations, with a touch of local flavour in the form of traditional ornamentation been presented at his Art Exhibition, at Paradise Road Galleries from 19 July - 02 August 2002. The exhibition is organised by Udayashantha Fernando. - Daveena Packianathan
