PM wins backing for peace, economic recovery : US support in anti-terror war

United States' President George Bush's personal backing for the Sri Lankan peace process and Washington's firm commitment to Sri Lanka's counter-terrorism preparedness as part of the US' global anti-terror campaign are the key gains achieved by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe's visit to the US capital last week, diplomats here conclude.

Peace talks 'definitely' in August - Jayalath J.

The peace talks will definitely take place next month and the date will be decided soon by the Sri Lanka Government and the LTTE leadership. The government's process for peace had already been appreciated and welcomed by the international community, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Refugees Minister Dr. Jayalath Jayawardana told the 'Sunday Observer'.
