Samurdhi false claimants to be taken to task Samurdhi Development Ministry is to take stern action against those who had obtained benefits from the project in a fraudulent manner. According to Agriculture and Livestock and Samurdhi Development Minister S.B. Dissanayake, about 25 percent (around two million people) of our entire population need some kind of financial assistance for their survival. " We introduced the Samurdhi benefit scheme to assist them. But, we find that over 50 percent of the country's population receive assistance from the project. We will have to stop providing them assistance, once we have ascertained their cases", he said.
