Colombo University's Sarasavi Mela 2002

The Alumni of the University of Colombo under the joint banner of the Alumni Association, the Alumni Organization and Sarasavi Mithuro will organise 'Sarasavi Mela 02' a trade exhibition and fun fair. The main objectives of this carnival are to raise funds towards students welfare activities and the development of facilities at the University. The Mela will be held at the Colombo University Grounds at Reid Avenue from September 26 to 29.

Mr. Thilak Karunaratne Chairman of "Sarasavi Mela 02", said they hope to raise Rs. ten million from this project.

Mr. Ranjith Gunawardane President of the Alumni Organization said that all alumni of our Alma Mater have joined together to work for the success of this event. "We are quite confident of achieving the target of Rs. ten million", he added.

Mr. Charitha Ratwatte Advisor to Sarasavi Mela 02 and the President of the Alumni Association, said "We have identified a few projects that will benefit from this fund raiser. These are the student scholarship scheme promotion of sports and English education, career guidance, and job placement services, providing new light and sound system and to the New Arts Theatre, and a new hostel for transportation for the disabled students, a salon, a tailor shop, a book shop and a coin operated laundry for the benefit of the students".
