Jak planting at Srimavo BV A jak planting ceremony will be held at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo on Wednesday the 7 at 8.30 a.m. This event is organised by the National Jak Development Project (NJDP) under its project to plant 100,000 jak saplings throughout the island. Forty jak saplings will be planted in the school premises and the students will take care of the plants, NJDP sources said. An exhibition and seminar on jak-related food items are also scheduled to coincide with the event. Wasantha Wijewardene, Treasurer, Green Movement of Sri Lanka, Priyadarshana Saman Kumara, President, Haritha Mithuro and M. Senanayake, a jak farmer from Bemmulla will address the seminar. |
