New shelter for stray animals

Large-hearted philanthropists and animal lovers both Mr. and Mrs. Percy Colonne, has set the way for the Animal Welfare and Protection Society to launch a building program on a half acre block of land donated by them at Kahatuduwa in Homagama.

The President of the Society Mrs. Hemantha, Jayatilleka received the deed of gift at the AGM held recently at the Dutch Burgher Union Hall.

Speaking to the members of the Society present Mr. Percy Colonne said that he had a very special niche for all animals and specially those who were homeless, sick and injured with no care in sight.

He continued to state that his heart bled for them and that was why he picked on the Animal Welfare and Protection Society to gift this property.

He said he was fully aware of the great work being carried out by the Society to relieve the innocent animals of their suffering and give them some hope and much needed understanding and kindness.
