Customs foil smuggling attempt by Sarath Malalasekera The Revenue Task Force of Customs yesterday detected three youth who attempted to smuggle out of the country, five kilos of gold bars valued over Rs. 4.5 million. The Customs investigations revealed that the youth attempted to smuggle the gold concealed in their footwear. The Customs identified the three youth from up country as carriers. The detection was made by a team of Customs officers led by Additional Director of Customs K. Rajan with Customs officers G. B. Gnanaraj, V. W. Nanayakkara and G. B. Fernando. Senior Customs Officer A. Kulendran is conducting further inquiries. |
