Sanhinda celebrates 200 days

by Jayanthi Liyanage

Sanhinda Leisure Centre, the only exclusive entertainment centre of modern sports and recreation facilities situated in the heart of Nugegoda, celebrated 200 days in existence on Saturday, with a large number of members and guests joining in.

Minister of Consumer Affairs Ravi Karunanayake graced the fun-filled occasion as the chief guest, accompanied by Ranjith Cooray, Mayor of Kotte, and Dhanasiri Amaratunge, Mayor of Dehiwala-Mt. Lavinia. The day events, comprising badminton and table tennis tournaments and swimming meets for all categories of men and women and junior members, had the participation of over 250. The day offered many fun-filled games for children, starting from the familiar lime-and-spoon race and tug o'war to more novel activities. Over 600 were seen at the dinner dance which climaxed the occasion with the popular band "Ultimate" and DJ, Dr.J and Specialists, in attendance. Sanhinda, currently enjoying a membership of about 350, is a BoI approved enterprise coming under the Jana Mandira Program initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to provide entertainment facilities to the youth.

Among its many facilities are an extensively modern and fully-equipped fitness centre and gymnasium, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, badminton and squash courts, swimming pool with ancillary facilities and a family restaurant with seating capacity for 200 people and a giant screen for viewing tele-wised games.
