Rusi Captain wins RCGC title

Several times past winner Rusi Captain regained the Royal Colombo Golf Club Championship at the Ridgeways last week, defeating Alain Gyi at the 36th hole in an amazing final.

After the first 18 holes in the first session, Alain Gyi, was 2-up, but in the afternoon session, Rusi Captain, won the 1st and 5th holes to level scores. Gyi won the 6th hole with a Birdie to go 1-up and won the 9th too to go 2-up again.

Captain then won the 12th hole with a birdie and was 1-down and with Gyi hitting the water pond on the 13th and losing the hole the scores were level again. On the 15th Gyi had a Birdie and was again 1-up, while Captain, won the 17th with Bogey to level the scores once again.

Playing the final hole with the match evenly poised, both Captain and Gyi hit the green with second shots. Captain's was around 60 feet away from the hole and Gyi's was around 7 feet away. To the amazement of the fairly large crowd, Captain's exceptionally long putt went into the hole for a Birdie, and Gyi, visibly rattled missed his Birdie putt to concede the match to Captain, who regained the title.
