Deadline for 'Green Card' Lottery Nov. 6 The American Embassy has announced that the United States Government will soon be accepting applications for its Diversity Immigrant Visa Lottery Program (DV-2004). This program makes immigrant visas available by lottery to applicants from a number of countries around the world, which are currently under-represented among the immigrants coming to the United States, the embassy said in a communique. Applications for this year's program must be received in the United States between noon on Monday, October 7, 2002 and noon on Wednesday, November 6, 2002. Entries received either before or after these dates will be disqualified, regardless of when they were postmarked. Applicants from Sri Lanka (Maldives) should mail their forms to: DV Program, Kentucky Consular Centre, 2002 Visa Crest, Migrate, KY 41902-2000 USA, to be eligible for the lottery draw. Information sheets and sample application forms will be available free of charge at the US embassy front gates during office hours. The requirements for the DV-2004 registration are given in detail on the "Visa Bulletin" on the Internet at http://travel.state.gov/DV2004.html.
