"Another Dialogue" an exhibition of paintings by Husband and wife Two Sri Lankans, husband and wife will hold their joint exhibition of paintings at the Thambapani Restaurant, Colombo commencing from today. Sanjeewa Kumara and Sujeewa Kumari Weerasinghe now domiciled in Netherlands were flown to Sri Lanka to exhibit their some of the best paintings at Tambapani, which is planing to a turn a section of the upper floor of the hotel, an art gallery and a meeting point for the artists in the country. The exhibition of painting named "Another Dialogue" will be the launching pad for the future art gallery when the exhibition opens at 7.00 pm. The exhibition will be open to the public from September 10 to 15. Speaking to the media the couple said that their effort in the field of art will bear fruit someday when Sri Lanka give recognition to artists as professionals and assurance given for their well-being. "We decided to move from Sri Lanka to the country of our choice because there is recognition for budding artists in that country and there is the state-patronage for those taking to this field. The exhibition of paintings include selected drawings done during the period of 1999 to 2002. The duo had exhibited their paintings in a number of countries.They said that their work of had much recognition in the countries they exhibited and that encouraged them to pursue their studies related to art and they both hope to sit for the highest degree available in this field. "We have seen a lot of change in every aspect of Sri Lankan in the past few years and we are very optimistic that the day will be near when the state give recognition that is needed for the artists of the country to thrive. We are ready to contribute our share to achieve that goal". The exhibition of paintings "Another Dialogue" has been sponsored by Ceylon Biscuits Limited, Colombo. |
