SA Regional Conference South Asia Regional Conference on Facilitating the Implementation of the UN Convention of the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) jointly organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and UN fund for Development of Women (UNFEM) will be held on 12th-14th September at Kalutara. Women's Affairs Minister Amara Piyaseeli Rathnayake will be the chief guest at the inaugural session. All women parliamentarian are also invited to participate at this session. According to Ministry sources there will be 38 foreign delegates and 18 local delegates fully participating at the conference. This conference is aimed towards creating a learning opportunity both for governments as well as NGOs on how to use the CEDAW convention and its mechanism in order to bring about equality between women and men. |
