Small ad agency wins biggest marketing job of the year

A small company could not have asked for a bigger miracle; to win a pitch to handle the biggest and most ambitious marketing challenge of the year in Sri Lanka - the two billion rupee Debenture Issue of Hatton National Bank (HNB).

A careful analysis of presentations involving some of the top international agencies saw HNB deciding to entrust the massive campaign to The 7th Frontier, a small ad agency in its first year.

The issue was oversubscribed within hours with a staggering Rs. 3 billion, a significant achievement in the financial history of Sri Lanka. "Maybe we can take a little credit, but the fact remains that a giant has propelled a small agency into self-belief," Dinesh Watawana, who leads The 7th Frontier, said.

"Ours is a small team, but with big ideas. Our creativity compares with the best in town even though physically, we are almost an unknown quantity. However, it is our style of relationship that we impart to our clients and their customers through brand engineering that has won us our clients. Clients have been able to greatly reduce their production costs with our agency."

The campaign work for the HNB issue had lasted well over one and a half months. The 7th Frontier clients include UTE, The Finance Co., INTEL and Emerald.
