New range of Panasonic products by CHAMIKARA WEERASINGHE Uni Walkers Ltd., the sole distributor for National Panasonic products in Sri Lanka, will introduce 70 new models of Panasonic home appliances and hi-fi audio visual equipment to Sri Lanka shortly. Uni Walkers, in collaboration with its principal supplier and original manufacturer of Panasonic products in Japan, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd., conducted a seminar in Colombo recently to demonstrate the new models to its 56 main dealers and 250 dealers in the island. A variety of refrigerators including a three-door model, automatic microwave ovens, hyper-active vacuum cleaners and fans, hi-fi home theatre systems and slim DVDs were among the new models. High efficiency mini digital video cameras and still cameras were special features. Uehigash Koji, Manager National Panasonic Consumer Electronic Sales Department for the Asian Region, said the company had felt the need to promote its original products due to the wide availability of substandard copy Panasonic products in the market. "It is time we encouraged our consumers to buy products from reputed dealers. Our products may be more expensive than the fake ones, but we hold a good guarantee period for them," he said. Motoki Nakagaki, Chief Executive Sales Group Asia and Oceania Sales Office, described the features in the new models, some of which are the centrifugal function in washers, which cleans without damaging the clothes; the improved sound component called Virtual Hyper Bass in flat screen televisions and hi-fi stereo systems; and the high-speed rewind function which rewinds a tape in 42 seconds in VCRs. Uni Walkers Director P. Nirmalan said one to four-year guarantees can be given to these new products. "We are concentrating on expanding our easy payment schemes for the benefit of our consumers," he said. |
