Lankan literati to be honoured on Sept. 30

The country's biggest celebration in the literary field, the State Literary Festival 2002, will be held on September 30 on a grand scale at the BMICH commencing 4.30 p.m. under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Human Resources Development, Education and Cultural Affairs Minister Karunasena Kodituwakku.

A veteran writer from India Prof. U. R. Ananthamoorthi will deliver a special lecture. Prizes worth over Rs. 700,000 and certificates will be handed over to the winners of the certain categories in the literary field for the year 2002.

A special cash prize of Rs. 50,000 each and a plaque will be awarded to two veteran writers in Sinhala and Tamil Prof. M. B. Ariyapala and T. S. Varatharajaan respectively for their excellent contributions to the literary field. .
