Hameedia to dress lawyers

by Elmo Leonard

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) is in the process of seeking welfare packages for its members. Among these are holiday facilities for lawyers and their families. A credit card for lawyers is in the pipeline, which would see the Association collaborating with Sampath Bank Ltd.

The Technology Infrastructure Committee of BASL recently teamed up with Hameedia, the men's fashion wear company. Hameedia will custom tailor lawyers' suits, and retail a range of men's wear including shirts, ties, belts and tie pins, at reduced rates to lawyers, at its outlets in Colombo, Kandy and Kurunegala. This commercial package, launched at the Bar Association auditorium in Colombo, will be effective upto end-November. The offer comes in four packages - Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. The discounts offered vary from 10 to 15 per cent. "Our designs are of international standard and in keeping with European trends," Hameedia Managing Director, Fowzul Hameed said.

BASL President, Ajantha Atukorale said that Hameedia was chosen by the Association as the company had been in the men's outfitting business for over 50 years, and was committed to excellence. Hameed offered to advise lawyers on grooming and selection of colours and appropriate men's fashion trends. Clothing discount packages for women attorneys-at-law are also in the pipeline.
