President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has set up a special monitoring unit to follow the situation in Trincomalee.

Presidential Advisor on Media Affairs, Janadasa Peiris told the Sunday Observer that the unit consists of one officer from the President's Secretariat, one officer from the Army and another from the Police.

The Presidential Secretariat decided on a unit yesterday evening, to check on the latest of the current situation in Trincomalee.
