Apollo conducts free cardiac clinic in Kandy Apollo Cardiac specialists visited Kandy recently for a heart awareness weekend which included a seminar and a free heart camp. This programme reiterated the point that although Apollo is located in Colombo, its policy is to cater to the needs of the whole country. This is the first of many such programmes scheduled to be held to convey this message of Apollo being truly Sri Lankan. At the seminar held at Hotel Tourmaline, Dr. Rohit Sharma, Medical Superintendent for Apollo Hospitals, Colombo, made a welcome speech. This was followed by presentations on Apollo and its Cardiac speciality departments by Dr. Vinay Kumar Bahl, Co-ordinator/Senior Consultant Cardiologist, Dr. Siva Kumar, Interventional Cardiologist, and Dr. Prasad Krishnan, Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon. Finally, a discussion was held on heart related topics. This seminar, which was for invited medical practitioners in related fields, was attended by approximately 75 doctors from the area. The programme was organised to demonstrate the enhanced services/facilities offered to the Sri Lankan doctors at Apollo. The next day was the free heart camp which involved some of Apollo's top cardiac talents giving free consultations to the general public. This public service was held at Espee Diagnostic Labrotories (Pvt) Ltd. More than a 150 people were seen by Dr. Bahl, Dr. Kumar and Dr. Krishnan. Following this cardiac programme in Kandy, a CME programme on "Advanced MR Imaging" was held at the Auditorium of Apollo Hospitals, Colombo, on October 5. |
