Global recognition for calendar designer 'The Design Master', a Sri Lankan advertising company has been honoured by the US creative journal the Creativity Annual in its 2002 publication, Creativity 31. The year 2001 calendars designed by The Design Master for Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) and National Insurance Corporation (NIC) have won distinction certificates for creativity. They are also featured in the annual magazine for 2002. The journal conducts the annual creativity competition and this year's 31st Creativity Competition saw over 7000 entries from 31 countries. The competition is organised by the US advertising giant Creativity Incorporation. The magazine is published by publishing giant, HarperCollins International. The calendar for SLT features the frescoes of Sigiriya, the eighth wonder of the world, in 12 pages. The concept of the calendar draws parallels between the communications of the Sigiriya artist and the SLT. The NIC calendar uses the intricate woodcarvings of the Ambekke Devale, to explain the inherent strengths of the company in six pages. 'The Design Master' is a company dedicated to the art of designing calendars. According to Creative Director W. M. K. Wijayabandara, his agency's vision is to revolutionise the art of calendar designing in Sri Lanka. Some of the calendars it has created have won Printers Awards in Sri Lanka. |
