Fete in aid of Lady Ridgeway Hospital 'Barrels of Fund for Everyone' will be the theme of the fund raising fete in aid of the Lady Ridgeway Orthodontic Clinic for children with cleft palate syndrome, to be held at the Victoria masonic Temple grounds (near the Holiday Inn and opposite the Army Headquarters) on Saturday, November 9 from 10.00 a.m.-6.00 p.m. Proceeds from the fete will go towards setting up an orthodontic clinic for which substantial funding is required. This project is being overseen by Dr. Sriyani Basnayake, who is the only doctor in Sri Lanka qualified in this particular field. Work will commence by the beginning of December and it is hoped that the clinic will be completed (provided all the funding required is raised) within six months. Several stalls, games, a kiddies corner, food and drinks are on the cards and all those who visit the fete are guaranteed of entertainment for the whole family. Garden-fresh fruits and vegetables from exporters Eastern and Allied Agencies, saris, shalwars, costume jewellery and linen from Bombay Bazaar, ice creams and soft drinks from Elephant House, fast foods, hot dogs and shorteats from Caravan and Krest Foods, buriyanis and lamprais from Potluck Cafe, a barbecue by Norfolk Foods, a kiddies corner, a Three Coins beer stall, a Fotofun stall by Kodak, a fertiliser stall from Baurs and pot plants from Alfie's Garden. Indian food by Shanthi Vihar, baby clothes, exquisite semi precious jewellery from Stone n'String, home appliances from Abans, saris and shalwars from Suvastra Boutique, plastic furniture from Nilkamal, tombola, games of skill, pop corn and candy floss and all the fun of the fair! Entrance tickets are priced at Rs. 50, so please visit the fete and contribute generously towards a worthy cause. |
