Expo Aviation plans expansion

After four months of successful operations between Colombo and Jaffna, Expo Aviation will introduce an AN-24RV aircraft on this route. The aircraft will also be operated on other domestic routes including Wirawila, Trincomalee and Koggala shortly.

Future plans for development include float plane operations, a flight training school and aircraft overhaul facility.

CEO Sabri Marikar said that Expo Aviation is the only domestic airline to offer a two-class operation - Select and Economy class. Its staff undergo regular training on service excellence to ensure high standards. Due to the success achieved a Frequent Flyer Program is now being planned which would give regular passengers many incentives, he said.

Expo Aviation (Pvt) Limited, a member of the Expolanka Group, commenced operations as an International cargo airline in 1997 and was re-certified under International Civil Aviation Organisation guidelines in 2000. The company has been approved by the Board of Investment and is a 100 per cent Sri Lankan-owned company.

It has been certified as meeting all requirements for an international operation and was also the first domestic airline to be certified to the Director of Civil Aviation to recommence flights to Jaffna. Its inaugural flight to Jaffna took off on June 3, 2002.
