PM in Straits of Malacca : Singaporean leaders pledge support for SL peace, development Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe currently on a visit to Singapore has held meetings with Singaporean Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong and former Prime Minister and elder statesman Lee Kuan Yew. The experience of Singapore's development process and the challenges faced in the governance of that city state were discussed at these meetings, a government communique said. Lee Kuan Yew is understood to have expressed satisfaction with the stability of the Sri Lanka ceasefire and the progress of the peace talks. Singaporean Premier Tong on Friday hosted Premier Wickremesinghe to a luncheon meeting. The current situation in Sri Lanka was discussed at this meeting and the Singaporean leader expressed Singaporean's unequivocal support for Sri Lanka's peace initiative and economic development effort. |
