Jak tree: 19th program on Dec. 31

National Jak tree planting project sponsored by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd., will launch its 19th program on December 31 at the Kataragama Kiri vehera Temple grounds at 9 a.m.

In addition to distribution of jak saplings provided by Haritha Movement and Rabukkana Virya Seva Sansadaya, there will be a distribution of school books and cloth for uniforms to students and teachers at the same venue. This will be preceded by opening of the new lighting system in the sacred grounds, at a cost of Rs. 50 lakhs.

The project has the support of the Power and Energy Ministry, CEB, Kataragama Pradeshiya Sabha and the Kataragama Development Foundation. Arrangements have been made to conduct several religious and social events on Monday tomorrow, December 30.
