Protecting our migrant workers in ME by CHAMIKARA WEERASINGHE The Ministry of Employment and Labour will sign a number of agreements with Middle East countries towards enhancing the protection of Sri Lankan migrant workers in those countries shortly. A spokesman for the ministry said that arrangements have already been made with respect to this on the initiative of Employment and Labour Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe. The ministry will sign the agreements with Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Quatar, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, the spokesman said. As pointed out by the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment, Mr. Susantha Perera, these agreements are envisioned to confirm "state level" protection from UAE countries to the migrant workers. |
