Jayatissa Herath appointed to coaching committee of FIH

President of the Sri Lanka Hockey Federation , Senior DIG Jayatissa Herath has been honoured by being appointed to the Development and Coaching Committee of the Federation of International Hockey (FIH) with effect from January 1,2003.

Herath was also installed as a member of the Asian Hockey Federation Council.

The appointments were made by the FIH Coaching Manager from Macau, Tayyab Ikram, who is in Sri Lanka at the moment, on a stint of coaching, on Thursday, January 2 at a glittering function to celebrate the occasion at the Football House Auditorium.

Thirty coaches were honoured for their participation in the Training, this being a level I training course held here for the first time.

The course was conducted for seven days with the assistance of the Olympic Solidarity Committee represented by Commander H.U. Silva.

The coaches and trainees had practised hard for seven days and said that they had a very interesting and informative time in order to improve their standards and in coach Ikram they have a coach with a heart for Asia and Asian hockey.

The coaches for the future who were singled out for honour and received certificates from the chief guest N.G. Punchihewa, the Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Cdr. H.U Silva, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee were L.B. Amaranayake, Sriyani Mangalika, P.K. Heenatigala, Lasantha Maddaggoda, Saman Wijesinghe, Indrawansa Herath, L. Ittapana, B.L.V.S. Perera, G.E. Wickramanayake, G.D. Mathiyalagan, G.G. Dharmaratne, M.I.M. Ashroff, Dharshana Wijesinghe, M.F. Laheer, Dhammika Mahanama, Anuruddha Herath, Sobitha Mendis, Hasantha Kaushalya, Mario Joseph, Renu Yapa, M.B. Herath, S.S. Ratnasabapathy, Maithri Vithana, A.N. Perera, G.A. Rupesinghe and S.M. Mullafer.

Also in the newly appointed Sri Lanka Coaching Communication Committee are Chairman A.N. Perera, Mario Joseph - Secretary and committee members G.S. Rupasinghe, Dharshana Wijesinghe, Ms. Sobitha Mendis and P. Heenatigala.
