Economic Reforms, Science and Technology Minister Milinda Moragoda has briefed the former Indian Deputy Chief of Staff Major Gen. Satish Nambiar on the High Security Zone (HSZ) issue in the north and conveyed the decision in person to him to seek his assistance in re-structuring the sensitive areas, in the HSZ in the north.

The government and the LTTE negotiators agreed to obtain the assistance of Maj. Gen. Nambiar, on this issue at the fourth round of talks in Thailand last week.

Minister Moragoda had a lengthy discussion with the Indian General in New Delhi on Friday and explained to him on the progress of the talks and the role he has to play in the matter of adjusting the HSZ.

Meanwhile, Gen. Nambiar is expected to arrive in Colombo in early part of February and make an elaborate study on the HSZ areas in the north getting details from both the army and the LTTE. Later on, Gen. Nambiar will submit a report on his findings to the Prime Minister, sources said.

Prior to the meeting Minister Moragoda has also met the Indian Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha and the Principal Secretary to the Indian Prime Minister and the Indian Defence advisor Briajesh Mishra in New Delhi on Friday.
