True Love

Vivid religious cultures and philosophies of the world over have, elaborated and cherished the treasures of love for centuries and endorsed, its sublime importance, in no uncertain terms. love begets mercy, relief, care and compassion not only on the humanity, but on all beings, fauna and flora and the environment at large. It conquers wide horizons of comfort and speed, experienced lavishly in today's global village and transcends its rays to outer planets as well. True love blesseth him that giveth and him that taketh love. It's mightiest in the mightiest.

However, the society today is trodding in a blind alley, divorced of above facts and figures. We are in a topsy tervey world where selfishness, carnal feelings, hatred, fiction sex and passion are the order of the day. Above values pivoted on love have fast disappeared.

Detrimental

It is lamentable that priests, monks preachers, teachers, executives and many others have lost their roots of genuine love. "Crab Policies" of elders and the affluent, have left a legacy to be followed by succeeding generations.

Physicians should first heal themselves before preaching. This is the real challenge with regard to love and affections.

Such mishaps and detrimental trends were a far cry in the past; but today it is very common. Population explosion - open economy - global concept and vast electronic progress, have changed the society during the past century. At present life span is limited from that of the past. Competitiveness, rapid urbanization and environment pollution have all contributed to negation of higher values. Love is no exception. When poverty knocks at the door love flies through the window. But it is high time now to take stock and redress the situation.

When a youngster loves a young girl, he is moved by carnal and raw sex attachment devoid of higher values of tender feelings, and sacrifice, highlighted by genuine love. He ventures to reap the maximum out of the minimum opportunity and plays the sole role of Hollywood Fantacies. A great majority of the younger generation is keen to tread the same path for sex anxieties, whipped by myth and zenith of imbalance. The fair sex often falls prey through immaturity and frailties. Ignorance does no emerge as a plausible excuse in such circumstances. The culprit should no doubt be brought to book.

Remedy

Remedy should never be worse than the disease. Enforcement of common laws, rules and regulations ushering social justice is a must to curb such malpractices and social ills. A sense of elevated appreciation should reach every strata of the community with entertainment access. Media - publicity and artists should deliver the goods with no motivation for spinning money alone. Oriental bent should be enriched in all matters. Knowledge of English should reach the grassroot level, and should not be a monopoly anymore.

Divide and rule policy of the executive should cease forthwith. Politicisation should not infiltrate the society. The young should be well looked after and recognized as a powerful human resource. Carnal feelings and unsociable habits would then disappear leaving ample room for the exercise of true love.

Flowers of love and affection will then blossom with serenity and fragrance. Let not the society fall and sigh, under the debris of degeneration deprived of true love, in the rat race in search of gloomy and obscure pursuits. May true love dawn with the new year without marring its lustre and spirit.
