World renowned speaker to address Lankan audience

Dr Stephen R. Covey, the world renowned speaker and author of the '7 habits of highly effective people', will conduct two programs on March 15 in Sri Lanka.

It is organised by Dynamix International, a company focused on providing professional excellence to the corporate sector by being a catalyst in the field of training and development.

The first program at the BMICH on March 15 will be on the theme 'Leadership is a choice not a position.' Dr Covey will give the participants an insight into the awareness and skills necessary to find one's own voice and inspire others to find theirs.

As leaders, it is important to make the choice to rely on moral authority rather than formal authority to influence and help others to reach their potential. It is critical that leaders find their voice and exercise moral authority as they strive to help others to find their own. Recognising that people are our greatest asset and tapping into the potential that each individual possesses is one of the key competencies of a good leader. During the program, Dr Covey will discuss the mind set, tool set and skills set necessary to be an effective and moral leader.

The second program will be held on the same evening at the Trans Asia Hotel. The theme for this program is 'Leadership in turbulent times'. This presentation is for CEOs, managing directors and decision makers of companies. Dr Covey will talk about the importance of shifting our paradigm to that of the knowledge age which has the potential to lead organisations to survive and even thrive during turbulent times.

Dr Covey is co-founder and Vice Chairman of Franklin Company, a leading global professional services firm offering learning and performance solutions to assist professionals and organisations in increasing their effectiveness in productivity, leadership, communication and sales.

He is a recipient of the Thomas More College Medallion for continuing service to humanity and five honourary doctorate degrees. Other awards won by him include the Sikh's 1998 International Man of Peace Award and the 1994 International Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Dr Covey earned his degree from the University of Utah, his MBA from Harvard and completed his doctorate at Brigham Young University.

SriLankan Airlines, Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL), ETV, TNL, Trans Asia Hotel, LMD, Benchmark, PanAudio, PBN Direct, Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, Design Events and Artbox Advertising are the official sponsors of the event.
