Regional solutions provider strengthens relationship with Lanka

DMS Electronics Ltd., a leading software solutions integrator in Sri Lanka, and Comex GeneSys, a solutions provider for financial value chain management in Asia, have decided to strengthen their solutions to the country's banking and finance industry and other industries in which card-based payment solutions could be utilised.

Comex GeneSys, a subsidiary of the Malaysia-based Commerce Exchange (Comex), offers a range of card-processing solutions including consumer, debit, private label and virtual cards, commercial cards and other cash management solutions to streamline and automate cash payment and collection processes.

General Manager DMS Electronics Ltd. T.L. Chandranath told a news conference that this partnership had been in place for over three years. "In fact, we already have a satisfied customer base in the island. It is based on this that we now want to forge ahead.

"Another aspect that has fuelled this relationship further is the ongoing peace process and the Government's e-Sri Lanka initiative. We are excited and see the potential for Sri Lanka and our customers." Comex GeneSys has also extended its contract with Sampath Bank, which has been in existence since 1989.

Accordingly, Comex's new card processing system, CardPro Credit Card Software v4.0, will be implemented at the bank within the next two months. The system will enable the bank to manage a wide range of products from proprietary access cards to full-function branded cards, while providing a base for developing new or enhanced products to attract and retain customers.

Comex GeneSys has offices in China, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan. Comex's main shareholders include Visa International, Infocomm Investments, Venture TDF, Barings Private Equity Partners, JAFCO Investment (Asia Pacific) and JAIC Asia Capital. It has been in operation for over 15 years and has implemented over 150 solutions in over 30 Asian countries.

Meanwhile, a sales and marketing alliance to enable and support Sri Lanka's regional transshipment hub strategy was also effected when DMS Software Technologies expanded its partner relationship with Comex Frontiers, the supply chain execution software provider which is another subsidiary of Comex.

The partnership will combine Comex's supply chain execution solutions with DMS' local support and services competency. It is designed to enable enterprises, logistics services providers and their clients with best practices and solutions to be competitive as a regional transshipment hub. The DMS Group has been in operation in Sri Lanka's IT industry for over 25 years.
