Newsmaker of the Week Gas prices in the island have been increasing dramatically during the past few months while the entry of the third player, Mundo Gas, which promised a cylinder at Rs 325, was being delayed indefinitely due to various reasons. Laugfs increased the price of a gas cylinder last week to Rs 665 while Shell is also planning to increase prices if the Finance Ministry is unable to exempt gas from the Value Added Tax. Mundo Gas is in Sri Lanka due to the efforts of Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
