Daya releases
debut DVD

News comes to us from Melbourne, Australia that Sri Lankan born Daya Silva will be releasing his debut DVD on February 23 at a function at the town's Clayton Hall. Daya who commenced his musical career as a vocalist in the band 'Tharanga' in the late '60s is happy that he has been able to make his dream a reality.

The DVD entitled 'Kessay Kiyannada' includes six Sinhala and four English songs, all originals written for him by many song writers including one by the late Clarence Wijewardena. The DVD was filmed by Srial Katunayake and most of the location scenes include beautiful scenery from various parks and other places of interest in Melbourne. When he was in Sri Lanka Daya Silva recorded two songs at Augies' Studio, Bambalapitiya for airplay on Radio Ceylon.

The songs were 'Archchi' and Kurunegala and while in Melbourne with his band Dinkum he recorded two other songs which were written by Desmond Kelly 'Sweeter than Springtime' and 'Call Me When You Are Lonely' which became quite popular with the Sri Lankans. With the release of his CD 'Sweeter than Springtime' Daya Silva we are told made some promotional appearances in Down Town Boston, Washington and New York.
