SLIM Ad Awards on March 1

SLIM Ad Awards 2003, the most visible and glamorous marketing communication event of the year, will be held on March 1 at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC), Colombo 10.

Themed 'Arm yourself, peace is declared', the much awaited day in Sri Lanka's advertising calendar will honour the best of marketing communication developed and aired during the year for their impact and effectiveness.

Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Ravi Karunanayake will be the guest of honour. The event is organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) for the 14th consecutive year. Entries were accepted under the categories of Main Marketing Communication Strategy and Integrated Marketing Communication Strategy. "We received 1031 entries and judging was completed in two rounds," said Chairperson Ad Awards Committee Thusitha Kumarakulasingham.

The two Indian judges associated with the event were impressed with the computerised judging process which they thought was 'very efficient'. They said they will recommend this process for India as well. A total of 142 awards including the latest addition, the Agency of the Year award, will be given away at the gala ceremony.

The SLIM organised the event in association with the Accredited Advertising Agencies Association (Four As).
