Condominium project to be ready by May

The 2000 Plaza Residencies, the residential condominium approved by the Board of Investment as a five-star flagship project, comprising 134 apartments, will be completed by the end of May.

The complex is situated within close proximity to the Parliament, the Sri Jayawardanapura Hospital and the country's oldest international school, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, said Nimal N. Lokuge, Director and CEO of Sierra Construction, the project contractor.

"We have already sold 60 per cent of the apartments. They have been bought by expatriates as the apartments are built to suit their luxury life style. The completely self-sustained units offer residents a life style that meets all their expectations," he said.

Built on an 'open view concept', each apartment owner can enjoy the maximum view, be it of the Adam's Peak on a clear day, the Parliament Grounds or the Colombo City.

The 12-storeyed complex has two-bedroomed (1180 square feet) and three-bedroomed (1775 square feet) apartments equipped with air-conditioning, floor covering, kitchen cupboards and counters with stove, oven and suction hood, bathroom fixtures and accessories, tiled floors in bedrooms and living areas, granite floors for the entrance, foyer and kitchen with granite counter tops in the kitchen.

"We can also supply refrigerators, televisions, microwave ovens, dishwashers, garbage disposal systems as well as washers and dryers at duty-free prices while upgrades are available at the expense of the buyer," Lokuge added.

The complex is equipped with standby generators, water pumps, individual geysers, covered parking and 24-hour security and has a minimarket, coffee shop, swimming-pool, gymnasium, cable TV, a laundry mart and a health centre. Every owner has a car park with an attached room for drivers.

Payment schemes are flexible and can be adjusted to suit individual needs while loans can be arranged in local or foreign currency.

"This is our first luxury condominium complex and we will do our best as we want to give our customers value for money. We will also provide 20-30 service apartments which will be available on short-term leases". Speaking of their future plans, Lokuge said: "We have earmarked land to start a second complex after this is completed. A housing complex targeting young executives is also on the cards." The project idea was conceived two years ago by Colin De Silva, an investor based in America.

The architect for the project is Mihindu Keerthiratne Associates Ltd and 2000 Plaza Private Ltd the developer.
