An all night pirith ceremony was held last night at the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL) premises and an alms giving to the Maha Sangha will also be held today, February 23, to commemorate the 117th birth anniversary of D.R. Wijewardene, founder of Lake House.

The commemoration ceremony will be conducted by the Ven. Ittademaliya Indasara Thera of the Sambuddhaloka Viharaya, Fort.

The chief incumbent of the Gangaramaya, Hunupitiya, the Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara Thera, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Mahabodhi Society and Chief Sangha Nayake of Japan, the Ven. Banagala Upathissa Thera, Chief incumbent of the Mahabodhi Centre, Chennai and Nalandaramaya, Nugegoda, the Ven.Thiniyawala Palitha Thera will also grace the occasion.

It is organised by the Board of Management of ANCL, in association with Lake House Buddhists' Society and employees.
