Sel Lipi :

ROCK STARS

Swasthi Shree! Thus says his sacred Majesty, the gracious Great King, glorious Chakravarthi, King of the Kings of Maya, Pihiti and Ruhuna, Mahoora of the Vanniala-aeththo and ruler of all lands from Yapapatuna to Sampanthota.

It came to the notice of the Maha Vasala that a ganithaya by the name of Wijaya Wardhana had been predicting the fall from the cupola of the heavens of stars, in the form of rocks, in the seven counties, the sath korale. Although this Wijaya Wardhana had made several predictions about earthquakes which were apparently fulfilled, for a long time this prediction about rock-stars did not come true.

However, recently there has been a deluge of paashaanas from the sky, which seem to bear out the words of the seer.

Recently, a dhandumonara of the Amerikaanun, whilst traversing the upper heavens, the ajataakaasha, broke up into a koti of fragments which spiralled to the ground. At first it was thought that the rock-stars that were small pieces were parts of this 'ajataakasha tharas dhanda', this shuttle of the upper heavens. So these paashaanas were to be sent to Amerikaawa for examination.

Now, however, It has come to the notice of the Maha Vasala that new evidence has been unearthed recently, in the Kanda Uda Rata. In Senkadagala Siriwardhana Mahanuwara last Monday afternoon, some women were peacefully sewing garments to be sent to such foreign lands as the place of origin of the ajataakaasha tharas dhanda. Suddenly the roof of the building was pierced by pieces of paashaana that seemed to fall from the sky and it collapsed in a shower of fragments of roof and rocks. A score of the women were injured and thirteen had to be taken to the rohala. By their good karma, none of them was killed.

It turns out that a new Vihara is being built close by, a Jagath Baudhdha Kendhraya, a centre for propagating the words of the Thathaagatha. In order to construct this building, it had been necessary to remove the rocks that formed most of the site on which it was to be built. In order to remove these rocks it was necessary to blast them into smithereens. In order to do so, the powder of the cheena patass had to be used, the magical powder which rends the largest rocks into a koti of paashaanas.

Apparently, the blasting of a rock had caused many pieces of it to fly skywards like one of those ajataakaasha tharas dhandas and to descend on the roof of the building in which the garments were being sewn.

Now, there had been many questions as to how the aforesaid Wijaya Wardhana could predict the fall of rock-stars. It had been pointed out that there can be no connection between the occurrence of earthquakes (which are caused by Pruthuvi, the mihikanthaawa and the falling of paashaanas from the heavens, which are the province of the Lord Sakra. Wijaya Wardhana himself had been unable to answer any of these questions. At last it seems that a solution has been found to this earth-shaking mystery. Wijaya Wardhana has been known correctly to foresee earthquakes.

Thus, he would be able to predict the shaking of the ground caused by the blasting of rocks using the magical powder of the cheena patass. If these paashaanas are falling from the sky because they were first blasted up, he would be able to predict these showers because of the earth-shattering nature of their origin.

Swasthi Shree! This rock edict is made on this day of Ravi of the month of Medin of the Year of the Saka Era 1929.
