The Hut's open again

Yes indeed, thank heavens the Hut is open again! The Mt. Lavinia Hotel opened its new-look, refurbished night club on February 12 to a special invitees-only gathering. The Hut offers its patrons clean fun and safety is assured all night long since you are discreetly body searched for weapons at the entrance. Well giving a `clean, safe and comfortable night club' is a promise Sanath Ukwatte, Chairman, Mt. Lavinia Hotel, makes to you.

A relatively young band 'Damage' has been commissioned to play on Fridays and Saturdays, they will play - music from the 70s, 80s and 90s says Sathi Watson of Entertainment Unlimited who manages the Hut for the hotel. The lighting system is much from 'The Era'. The sound system is from the USA and pumps up just the correct decibel levels. Interior designer Andre Estefan has done the decor and did a revamp of the disco era and fused colours from the era - with electric blues muting into hot pinks and turquoises.

There's mirror work on the door and sequin work on the 'wave' at the back of the bandstand. The karaoke lounge for example has denim covered furniture, reminiscent of the era while the large mirror ball takes pride of place over the central dance floor.
