Yasith moves up from eighth to fourth in Observer-Bata All Island Contest There were no changes at the top in either the Observer-Bata Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year All Island Contest or in the Outstation Contest from the count on Coupon No. 4 when votes were counted on Coupon No. 5 in these two contests. However, there was significant improvement for Yasith Mihiranga of D. S. Senanayake College in the All-Island Contest. He was in eighth position with just 55 votes in Coupon No. 4, but after the count on Coupon No. 5, Mihiranga totalled 501 votes and jumped into fourth position. With Mihiranga coming into fourth position, Samiddha Gallage of St. Peter's who was fourth the previous week, drops down to sixth position, while Sahan Wijeratne of Prince of Wales - the Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year last year, keeps fifth place with 437 votes, while Gallage has 323 votes to be sixth. The voting coupons in the two contests also appear in the "Daily News" and readers are reminded that any number of coupons can be sent in one envelope for one cricketer. Readers should mark on the top left-hand corner of the envelope the name of the contest: 'Observer-Bata All Island' or 'Observer-Bata Outstation' as the case may be. |
