by SHIRAJIV SIRIMANE

The fourth annual Vijayaba Moto Cross conducted by Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Club will be held on

today (March 9) from 8.30 a.m. onwards at the Boyagane Army complex track in Kurunegala.

Over 100 leading riders, including two competitors from Japan have entered for the event this year. There will be total of 17 events including a special race for the ladies and for the Forces. Last year Nalin Perera underlined his supremacy winning the open event.

The event which is organised by Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Club, Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association, and Vijayaba Regiment will also offer cash prizes, trophies and certificates for the winners in each event.

The racing track of the Vijayaba Super Cross has been designed in manner where the spectators could witness the full track from one point.

The event was a major success last year with over 40,000 spectators witnessing the event and the organisers are expecting over 50,000 on today. The organisers have comprehensively insured all the spectators witnessing the event.

The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Johnston Fernando will be the chief guest at the event.
