'Seba' off on beauty quest again By Jayanthi Liyanage Sebastian A. C. Perera who enlivened the local tourism industry with Miss Tourism International Pageant last year, is heading beauty bulletins once again. He will be among the panel of judges of Miss Intercontinental in Saravak, Malaysia, on March 30 and Miss World University Pageant in Beijin, China, in June. Both Sri Lankan representatives to the pageants come from the top ten of the previous year's Miss Tourism International Pageant for which Perera is the local Franchise Director. The delegate chosen to compete at Miss Intercontinental is indisposed and this opportunity has now fallen to Anushi Warnasooriya who already possesses considerable international exposure by representing Sri Lanka at the Queen of the World pageant, Germany, a few months ago. Nuwanthi Somatilaka from Kurunegala will represent Sri Lanka at the Beijin pageant. Sebastian Perera, together with Danny Dagner, a judge at the previous Miss Tourism International pageant, is planning to hold this year's international pageant in Lebanon in late July. His brightest news probably, for the local tourism industry could be the Airline Queen pageant he and Mrs. Anusha Jayawardena propose to hold for the first time in the country, during the latter part of the year. "The uniqueness of this contest is that genuine flying stewardesses from 35 Airlines of the world will be vying for this beauty title," Perera said. "This is a contest which is held in a big way in the Western countries and it is sure to be major tourism attraction for the country." Sebastian Perera, whom one can call the doyen of local beauty pageants being the franchise director of eleven international beauty peagents and owner of Miss Asia International pageant, has also set his sights in Vietnam which has officially invited him to hold a beauty pageant in that country. |
