Sisil and Roshan top 2,000-vote mark in Observer-Bata cricket contests

The leaders - Sisil de Silva of St. Benedict's and Roshan Abeyratne of St. Anne's College, Kurunegala topped the 2,000-vote mark in the Observer-Bata Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year All-Island and Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Outstation Cricket Contests after votes were counted on coupon number six.

In the All-Island Contest, Sisil de Silva has so far polled 2,228 votes to keep the top place, while Trinitian Avanka Peiris is second with 984 votes, while Yasith Mihiranga of D. S. Senanayake College moved up one place to be third with 828 votes and Nuwan Perera of St. Sebastian's who was third the previous week, drops down to fourth position with 537 votes.

In the Outstation Contest, Roshan Abeyratne leads with 2,412 votes and Inshaf Razik of Azhar College, Akurana is second with 534 votes and Jayantha Neelaweera of Sri Sumangala, Panadura moves up one place to occupy third position with 396 votes and S. Dushantha also of Sri Sumangala drops down one position and is fourth just two votes behind with 394 votes.

The voting coupons in the two contests also appear in the "Daily News" and readers are reminded that any number of coupons can be sent in one envelope for one cricketer. Readers should mark on the top left-hand corner of the envelope the name of the contest: "Observer-Bata All-Island" or "Observer-Bata Outstation" as the case may be.
