SARS, the killer pneumonia spreading through South East Asia has already claimed 50 victims. The BIA has been placed on the alert to monitor arrivals from the Far East and Canada and is carrying out a poster campaign to educate passengers about the infection. But alas, the awareness campaign, carried out by the Airport Health Centre, seem to be aimed at the feet, for, as our picture shows, the posters are displaced at shin level with nothing to indicate they are there. SLMM to fix 'lines of control'

Killer pneumonia: BIA on high alert

The outbreak of the killer pneumonia, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, in several South East Asian countries has compelled health authorities to place the Bandaranaike International Airport on high alert with airport officials monitoring arrivals from Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, China and Canada.
