The almighty kahapana the first casualty

Sel Lipi by Gotabhaya

Swasthi Shree! Thus says his sacred Majesty, the gracious Great King, glorious Chakravarthi, King of the Kings of Maya, Pihiti and Ruhuna, Mahoora of the Vanniala-aeththo and ruler of all lands from Yapapatuna to Sampanthota:

On Medin Poya day, Pandhura, the chakravarthi of Amerikaawa, launched his dhandumonaras, his yudha rathas and his mighty hordes of sannaha-clad asura-like soldiery on an attack on the Yonaka Land Between the Rivers. In this action he was supported by his blood-brothers, Balaya and Havadiya (the chakravarthis of Brithaanyaya and Palleha-Yata), as well as his various vandhi-battayas, like the Nariya Dhaela, the Siya Naen and the dreaded Beebee tele-visaya.

Why was this sangraamaya launched? Pandhura declared first of all that his enemy, Takritiye Sadhaam, was producing the deadly agneyashthra and pashupathasthra weapons. His able agra purohihta, Kolon Pawul, waved in the air a puskola potha which, he said, had been written by the dreaded Banda charapurushas, the licenced-to-kill spies of Brithaanya and which he claimed had evidence of these weapons. It turned out to have been written by a golaya in a paatashaalawa, and could not be termed evidence in the sense of not being musaavaadha.

Next, Pandhura's proclamation tom-toms said that Takritiye Sadhaam was aiding the hated Usama Laadama-ge-putha and his 'alkhaida' kalliya. Repeated trumpeting of these allegations by the likes of the Nariya Dhaela have caused the people of Amerikaawa have come to believe that it was Sadhaam who destroyed the dhe-atalla on the 11th day of Binara.

It has come to the notice of the Maha Vasala that, since this war was started, the level of musaavaadha has risen even higher than this, so that the karma of the tom-tom beaters and bambara vedhas of the dhavala mandhiraya is surely to be reborn as dumb animals. And Balaya, Pandhura's musippaththuwaa, who will possibly be reborn as a fish, an aandha, perhaps.

It would appear that Sadhaam's soldiers can be eliminated and yet fight. His fifty-first senaangaya was reported to have surrendered in the early days, but continues to fight. Then it was the turn of the senangaya in front of the town of Kut to be destroyed and to be reborn like Palanga.

Now it seems that Sadhaam's soldiers have disappeared. Perhaps they are like the alleged agneyashthra and pashupathasthra, which were said by Kolon Pawul, in a flash of brilliant paramavignanadhamma-shaasthra, to be existent by their very non-existence.

The greatest of the boru-begals was that casualties among those who are not warriors would be avoided. However, it is clear that far more women and children have died than soldiers. Dhandumonaras have attacked the marketplaces of the cities, which are, according to Pandhura's bambara-vedhas, the camps of Sadhaam's armies.

In the city of Bassorava, the Parangis stopped the supply of water to the populace, in the middle of the hot season, thereby exposing them to ooshnathaa-vasangathas, epidemics of vapour-borne disease.

The latest of the binnas to be revealed was that Pandhura aimed only to replace Sadhaam on the sinhaasanaya of the Land Between the Rivers by a Shaasthrapathi, loyal to Amerikaawa.

Now it has come to the notice of the Maha Wasala that the actual plan is to appoint a Senapathi of the army of Amerikaawa, directly to rule the country.

The Parangi will sit once more upon the Yonaka throne.

And so it grows, one feeding upon itself and upon others, binna upon boru-begala upon musaavaadhaya. Verily is it said that saebaewa, truth is the first casualty in any sangraamaya.

Swasthi Shree! This rock edict is made on this day of Ravi of the month of Bak of the Year of the Saka Era 1929.
