Atapattu and Jayasuriya's wickets early helped us to win - Latif

SHARJAH, United Arab Emiates, April 5 (Reuters) - "Everything went according to our plans - and that's quite pleasing," said Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif. "We knew Sri Lanka were a strong side, hence we did the homework.

"The idea was to get rid of Atapattu and Jayasuriya, who we all know are very dangerous players," said Latif.

"Once we took the wickets of both the Sri Lankan openers, and that too by the 15th over, we knew we could control the match and that's what we did."

Gul bowled Atapattu for 13 while Sami took the prized wicket of Jayasuriya for 27, just seven short of the 9,000-run mark.

Latif shuffled his bowlers to keep the Sri Lankan batsmen in check as Sangakkara lost partners at regular intervals.
