ANCL lights up Rangiri Dambulla Viharaya premises

The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL) which plays a traditional role by extending its patronage and sponsorship to national festivals is organising the provincial Vesak programme at Rangiri Dambulla Raja Maha Viharaya on Wednesday May 14 under the guidance of the Ven. Inamaluwe Sumangala Thera.

The accent of the proceedings will be on propagating Buddhist cultural values. As part of the generous contribution made by the ANCL about 1,300 Dhamma school students will be presented with school bags and nearly 40 teachers with uniforms.

All 18 pirivenas will be equipped with computer terminals with internet and e-mail facilities. The entire cost of illuminating the historic temple premises and its environs will be borne by the ANCL.The night perahera is expected to be a spectacular event with a number of caparisoned elephants parading the streets.

Dance troupes from the south sponsored by the ANCL will be an added attraction as part of the national commemoration of 250 years of re-establishing the Upasampada Karma under the auspices of the then Royal Thai Government.

ANCL Chairman Nalin Ladduwahetty, Board of Directors and a large number of politicians are expected to attend the ceremony.
